1. GENERAL CONDITIONS OF USE FOR THE SITE AND THE SERVICES
Any user and visitor (the “User”) of the website (the “Site”) states that he/she is of full legal age and capacity allowing him/her to personally engage under these rules (the “General Conditions”).
Use of the Site implies full and complete acceptance of these General Conditions. Please read these General Conditions carefully before accessing or using our Site. By accessing or using any part of the Site, you agree to be bound by these General Conditions. If you do not agree to all the General Conditions, then you may not access the Site or use any services provided by Atomium (the “Provider”) on the Site (the “Services”). The General Conditions can be modified at any time without notice and the User agrees without reservation.

2. SCIENTIFIC PURPOSE AND SERVICES
The Site is an advanced search system granting Users access to scientific and other data, and is of particular use to Users interested in scientific topics and their societal impact.
The Site's purpose is to create a platform that allows citizens, researchers and policy-makers to interact with each other and learn more about scientific research and the resulting societal changes facing Europe in the upcoming years. It also aims to provide policy-makers with a technological tool which, together with the contribution of media, research institutions, researchers, civil society organisations and citizens, can support them in their decision-making process.
Users can find the necessary information across various scientific databases by using the available search engine. The data accessible to Users includes: articles, journals, legislative and policy documents and scientific data stored in different databases.
Non-registered Users have access to the following Services: (i) video interviews on scientific topics; (ii) comments left by other Users below the aforementioned videos; (iii) articles/debates/scientific news; (iv) questions and answers on the “Ask a researcher” function; (v) statistical results of the iNerd test.
Registered Users, as well as having access to the same Services available to non-registered Users, can also: (i) leave comments on the Site's forum; (ii) use the “Ask a researcher” function to ask researchers questions which researchers can answer on the dedicated platform. Both the Users' questions and the researchers' answers are made public on the Site.

3. ACCESS TO THE SERVICE
Access to the Service can take place either anonymously or by way of registration. Users accessing the Site are asked to create a personal account by registering on the Site. To register, Users must type in the following personal information: name, login credentials, country of nationality, birth date and gender. They must also agree to the Site's Privacy Policy. Registered Users are divided into the following three categories: citizens, researchers, and policy-makers. Researchers are asked to specify their competences upon registering on the Site.
The Site is in principle accessible to Users 24/7, except for interruption, scheduled or not, for maintenance or in the case of force majeure. In case of impossibility of accessing the Service, the Provider undertakes to do its best to restore access to the Service and will endeavor to inform Users in advance of the dates and hours of the intervention. Not being subject to an obligation of means, the Provider cannot be held responsible for any damage, whatever the nature, resulting from an unavailability of the Service.
The Service is free of charge and can be used by the User an unlimited number of times.

4. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
If the User creates an account on the Site, the User is responsible for maintaining the security of his/her account and password, and is fully responsible for all activities that occur under that account and any other actions taken in connection with the account. Users are further responsible for any material uploaded on the Site: Users are therefore invited to check the contents of the material they wish to upload on the Site before doing so. The Provider cannot be held liable for any of the contents uploaded or otherwise shared by Users on the Site.
The Provider undertakes to provide information that is as accurate as possible. However, it cannot be held responsible for omissions, inaccuracies and deficiencies in the update, whether of its own doing or of that of partner third parties providing the information concerned. The information concerning the Service offered on the Site is given for information purposes and it is non-exhaustive. Any reliance on the material on this Site is at the User's own risk.

5. HYPERTEXT LINKS AND COOKIES
The Site contains a number of hypertext links to third party sites. The Provider cannot be held liable for the contents of the visited sites or in connection with the User's visit to the sites.
The User is informed that at the time of visiting the Site, one or more cookies may install automatically on his/her computer. A cookie is a small file, which does not allow the identification of the User, but which records information relating to the navigation of a computer on a site. The data thus obtained are intended to facilitate navigation later on the Site, and also to allow various measures of attendance. The refusal to install a cookie can result in the impossibility of access to certain Services.

6. INVALIDITY - FORCE MAJEURE – APPLICABLE LAW
If for any reason a provision of the present General Conditions should be declared inapplicable, this inapplicability would not affect the application of other provisions of the General Conditions; that deemed unenforceable then being replaced by a provision as similar as possible.
The Provider cannot be held responsible for any breach which would have origin in a case of force majeure beyond its control.
The General Conditions are governed by Italian law and any dispute arising in connection with the Service shall be resolved in accordance with Italian law.

7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OWNERSHIP
All materials that are part of the Service (including, but not limited to, designs, text, graphics, pictures, video, information, applications, software, music, sound and other files, and their selection and arrangement) are protected by law from unauthorized use. The entire contents of the Service are copyrighted under the Italian copyright laws and/or similar laws of other jurisdictions.
The User agrees not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any portion of the Service, use of the Service, or access to the Service or any content on the Site through which the Service is provided, without express written permission by the Provider. All other uses of copyrighted material, including any derivative use, requires express prior written permission from the Provider. Any reproduction or redistribution of materials not in accordance with these General Conditions is expressly prohibited and may result in severe civil and criminal penalties.
The Provider and/or its licensors remain the owners of right, title, and interest, including copyrights and other intellectual property rights, of all materials posted on the Site or in connection with the Service, except those materials that are uploaded by registered Users. The User acknowledges that he/she does not acquire any of the Provider's ownership rights by using the Service or by accessing any materials posted on the Site, or any derivative works thereof.

8. PERSONAL DATA
The User's submission of personal information through this Site is governed by our Privacy Policy. The Provider does not collect personal information relating to the User except as needed for the Services offered by the Site. In accordance with the provisions of Chapter III of the GDPR any User has a right of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition to the personal data concerning them.
